Yeah, I will get to Part two and three of Go With What You Know in the next couple of days, just need to put some thoughts  down first.

Read the paper today and was surprised to hear that the Doomsday Clock was set back one minute. Was also surprised to read that 50 million Americans believe that the world is going to end within their lifetimes [source].

Also got in an argument with the wife about prepping. She must have forgotten to take her anti-bitch pill today because she was all over me like white on rice. The jist of the argument was this:

Doomsteading, Prepping, Stockpiling, Caching, Pack Ratting; Whatever you may call the process of storing goods, the idea and motivation are the same; To prepare oneself for times when things may be scarce or just non-existent.

The urge to stockpile can be anything as simple as, ‘Wow, Wal-Mart had a sale on socks, now we have 500 pair’; too, ‘I saw what happened in New Orleans and I won’t let that happen to me’ , or it could be something even more. Those are just two examples and I am not about to sit here and pretend to know all the reasons, then list all the reasons, and then give commentary on the reasons. That would be asinine. Last Night

So the family and I headed back to Lincoln after our interviews. The wife and I decided to take a different route due to the advancing winter storm. We thought about it and instead of using the state and US highways system, which is the most direct route, we would use the interstate system, knowing that those would be the last roads that they closed. We'll, in hindsight it was probably the stupidest thing I've ever done.

It took us 6 hours to go from Olathe, Kansas to Rock Port, Missouri. I have driven in worse before but never have I had the pleasure of going 35 down the interstate. Beyond the road conditions, which at some points didn't seem all that bad, I think there is something wrong with the ole family Jeep. No sooner then I would hit 50 mph the ass end would loosen up and we'd start sliding. Locked the fucker in 4 wheel and it would do the same.  Anyway, long story short we left Kansas at around 3 pm and we got home at 12:30 am. It normally takes about 5 to 6 hours taking the interstate, instead of the 4 to 5 taking the state roads.
